Project content presentation:

"Currently, developments in the logistics and warehousing sector are moving towards greater automation. Our solution is the creation of a truly collaborative picking warehouse controlling system that can be integrated into the entire warehouse management system. The project aims to develop and integrate a technology that supervises the manual picking process in a storage-location-based automated warehouse into a warehouse management system. This will make the picking process controllable, thereby increasing efficiency. During the project, a sensor group system will be developed to control picking and receiving. This will be complemented by a weighing process integrated with a new technology-based neural network camera system. This will achieve cross-validation of product detection and quantity determination. This new tool and technology will be suitable for increasing the efficiency of collaborative warehouses. The developed new technology will be embedded in a warehouse management system that implements the operation of automated warehouses. This concept will enable the digitalization of collaborative warehouses and related logistics processes. In this solution, the storage, movement, and transport of pallets to the picking point in the warehouse would be automated using a self-driving automated forklift, but this could also be done with a traditional forklift. The warehouse management system will be capable of optimizing storage locations and determining the optimal picking order based on incoming information. The complete system created by the development, with the control sensor group and warehouse management system, will be suitable for automatic inventory management. This will provide us with always up-to-date information on the number of products, their expiration dates, and their location within the warehouse. The outlined concept minimizes human intervention and thus the possibility of errors, as storage, transport to the picking point, and inventory would be determined by automated processes that always strive for the current achievable optimum. The number of incorrect picks can be reduced, thereby decreasing the amount of unused goods and thus the overall environmental impact. Our preliminary survey indicates that FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods distributors) and commercial companies show the most interest in our development, so we emphasize our value proposition aimed at these industries to our potential customer base. Our value proposition is based on offering a new technological development for companies requiring large warehouse capacity, who can realize cost and resource efficiency through its implementation, while the optimization helps simplify processes with less human capital and lower costs.
